Welcome to the website of Horsleygate Hall
Horsleygate Hall (built in 1783 and extended in 1879), it’s self-catering holiday cottages, beautiful gardens and lush green fields nestles in the bottom of the Cordwell Valley, amongst rolling hills on the edge of the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire, just 10 minutes from the Chatsworth Estate and Sheffield City alike.
Steeped in history, built in Derbyshire stone, surrounded by bounteous wildlife and happy free-range chickens, bird-song and glorious prize-winning gardens, this is a truly quintessentially rural English place to come to and get away from it all. However, excellent pub restaurants, pubs and an amazing authentic Thai restaurant are within walking distance from here too. You get more for your money here as few self-catering accommodation properties in the area offer the same level of customer-service, on-site 24 hour help and wonderful gardens that are free for you to explore. We welcome pets, children, special interest groups too as there is something for everyone here.
We specialise in warm welcomes and lots of local knowledge and advice to help you get the most out of your stay but we also respect your privacy if you do not want to be interrupted. As new owners (2014) we aim to preserve all of the wonder of the site and the gardens, but build on the facilities and experience for the customer and their families so there are many additions to come. We no longer do B&B but can organise your stay so you have little self-catering to do.
Self-catering Cottages – with a twist
Horselygate Hall has self-catering cottages (with sumptuous home made meals, jams, cordials, juices etc for sale, all made from produce grown in the kitchen gardens), Welcome packs can be organised and a Concierge Service is available to make your stay even more unique. Prize-winning atmospheric gardens to visit, bookable Afternoon Teas during the spring and summer in the gardens, play areas for resident and visiting children, seasonal fruit and vegetables for sale.
Craft, fine-art and well-being residential courses using the barn and our external spaces take place each year – see our programme of events.
Stunning Gardens and Walks
The stunning gardens are available to our residential guests which is included in the price and is certainly a considerable feature that makes the experience so much richer. Longer walks can be taken straight from the property or a 5 minute drive takes you to some of the most popular walking/climbing destinations in Derbyshire (Stanage Edge, Curbar Edge, Shillito Woods, Mam Tor) or to historic stately homes; Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Bolsover Castle all within 15 minutes drive of Horsleygate Hall. Our customers often comment on how conveniently located we are in the Peak District and so close to Sheffield and Chesterfield too. There is a huge wealth of history, quaint villages and historical homes to visit; all situated on our doorstep, or you can simply relax, listen to the birds and just breathe in our gardens.
